- Before freezing weather arrives, disconnect outside hoses and repair any outside faucet leaks
- Have your tank water heater flushed to remove any sediment buildup
- Have your sprinkler system blown out and turned off
- If the house has an interior shut-off for outside lines, close them and drain the water outside lines
- To prevent frozen pipes, seal cracks in the foundation and exterior walls and insulate pipes in crawl spaces
- Check washing machine hoses for damage. Replace hoses if cracked, bulging or showing other signs of wear
- Check that your sump pump is working properly
